Method for improved evaluation of magnetic resonance images, in particular for recognizing and delimiting danger-exposed brain tissue, wherein a perfusion-weighted MR image and a diffusion-weighted MR image of one and the same body region are superimposed into a mismatch image. The invention also relates to a mismatch card for improved evaluation of magnetic resonance images, wherein a perfusion-weighted MR image and a diffusion-weighted MR image of the same body region are preferably superimposed in color contrasted on an image carrier.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR IMPROVED EVALUATION OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGES
The invention relates to a method for improved evaluation of magnetic resonance images, in particular for recognizing and delimiting danger-exposed brain tissue, and to a device for performing this method.
In order to be able to better represent tissue, in particular brain tissue, with the details relevant to a physician, various MR imaging methods are known, with the aid of which the relevant tissue regions can preferably be represented with different weightings of their respective state.
For example, with MR perfusion imaging the so-called penumbra or the tissue-at-risk is displayed. With the help of an MR diffusion-weighted image one can very well display an irreversibly damaged area. However, the evaluation of these different recordings, which until now had to be carried out by visual comparison of the images, poses considerable difficulties in practice.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a method and a device based thereon for improved evaluation of magnetic resonance images, in particular for recognizing and delimiting dangerously exposed brain tissue, which enable the detailed visual comparison, which is always inaccurate in detail. making different images superfluous.
To achieve this objective, it is provided in accordance with the invention that a perfusion-weighted MR image and a diffusion-weighted MR image of one and the same body region are superimposed into a mismatch image, the structures of the two MR images preferably being mixed before mixing. be laid out in different colors.
Because of the superimposition of the images, the viewer immediately recognizes which area, for example in the event of a stroke, could be saved, so that it has not yet been irreversibly damaged.
By means of the method according to the invention, a mismatch card is preferably created on which a perfusion-weighted MR image and a diffusion-weighted MR image of the same body region are preferably superimposed in color contrasted on an image carrier.
Further advantages, features and special features of the invention appear from the following description of an exemplary embodiment and with reference to the drawing.
Figure 1 shows a magnetic resonance image of a brain region calculated from a diffusion measurement,
Figure 2 shows a map created during a perfusion evaluation of an MR measurement of the same brain region, and
Fig. 3 shows a mismatch card, i.e. a representation of the images according to Figs. 1 and 2 superimposed on an image carrier.
The dark area in the diffusion image according to Figure 1 shows the brain area that has already died, which is probably no longer salvable for the patient. The area recognizable in the perfusion image according to Figure 2, within which the dead area 1 is located, will also not recover if the patient is not treated. The superposition of the perfusion image according to Figure 2 with the diffusion-weighted image according to Figure 1 allows the physician to recognize the position of the damaged brain areas with one glance and also to assess much better where the critical sites are and what is actually still can be saved.
In practice, the darker dead tissue area 1 and the more clearly recognizable, lighter damaged tissue area 2 will have a color contrasting design, whereby, even more so if the color intensity or the color gradation is changed depending on the degree of damage, the evaluator will have even better and better results. more detailed evaluation possibilities.
